Stewkley pub lunch club launch
The first Wednesday of every month is the new regular slot for a meeting of the Stewkley Pub Lunch Club. Wednesday7th November saw 20 more mature village residents enjoy a two course lunch at the Swan.
Llew Monger, the organiser from Community Impact Bucks has now launched 37 of these initiatives across Buckinghamshire and he was in Stewkley to welcome all the new members to our first Pub Lunch. The aim of these lunch clubs is to help foster inclusion and social interaction for those who may be finding going out and meeting others difficult for a variety of reasons.
Llew said “ I have been trying to start this Pub Lunch Club in Stewkley for a number of years. Fortunately June Tobin of the Swan was very receptive when I put the idea to her. Then I only had to find an organiser to pull things together. I am pleased that Brian Bottomley assisted by Gill Morgan, has come forward and volunteered to organise the events and so we have managed to finally get things rolling. Now after this first successful one, I’m sure the Lunch Club will start to gather its own momentum and go from strength to strength”.
Brian Bottomley, the local organiser, was also pleased with the initial turn out; “ It is early days, but I have been heartened by the way the whole project has gone so far. At this first lunch we had a lovely bunch of people who were thrown together and really enjoyed themselves. They chatted away, met and made new friends and had a great meal as well. The food June provided was excellent, with a choice of 3 Mains and a whole host of puddings to choose from. Two courses for seven pounds! All in all I would say it was a really great start.”
There is still room for even more members to join the club, so if you are interested in value for money good food, lively company and a nice lunch out, then why not contact Brian Bottomley on 240521.
